An exquisite snake zemi with finely detailed head including twin bird head nose, relief carved eye and mouth surrounds and broad dental articulation displaying 2 fang like teeth. The altering, cross hatched triangles, the most common design for snake skin used by Taino craftsmen. The snakes body drapes and encircles the zemi cone. At the back of the cone the legs appear, the thighs engraved as bird heads and the feet joining to form a mouth. Dominica Republic. Made of marble-like stone. Length 12.5”.
